SW Florida Drivers Watch For Motorcycles When Turning Left!

Motorcyclist From Ft Myers Florida In Critical Condition After Being Hit By An SUV Sunday evening.

The accident happened as a 23-year old man from Ft Myers was riding a motorcycle west on Bayshore Road, approaching the intersection with Nalle Road. As the motorcycle was approaching, a 67-year-old man from North Fort Myers was in the left turn lane of east Bayshore road at the intersection with Nalle road during a flashing yellow traffic signal. When the motorcycle approached the intersection, the driver of the SUV failed to see them, and attempted to make a left turn across Bayshore onto Nalle, and drove directly into the path of the oncoming motorcycle. The motorcyclist had no time to react and crashed head-on into the side of the SUV. After the collision both the motorcycle and SUV came to a stop in the area of the crash. First responders transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital in critical condition. So drivers in southwest Florida, we implore you to be more careful, and ALWAYS check twice for motorcycles, especially when making a left turn across traffic!
